GrandCentral is becoming Google Voice

I just read today that my beloved phone service GrandCentral is now becoming Google Voice. After hearing and reading some reviews of this service, often by people who haven’t been using the system, I just wanted to chime in.

The service and system is great. I’ve been using the system since it started and can say it works like it says it does, and more. You can have a bunch of different profiles, import users and contacts, set ringtones. Its perfect for small businesses. I’ve been trying to get other small/private business owners to switch to it, but came to realize that I was one of a few hundred thousand that got access.

When you have the chance, check it out, get an account.

Oh, and you can pick where your phone number is located.

Hack Job and Banning

Well to my surprise not only was my site hacked (through the comments area), but I was setup as a restricted and phishing site! Yes, the site that I update every few months. So what did I do? I ended up upgrading the site incorrectly, having to do a new installation of my site, and slowly migrating all my old posts back.

Well, at least I’m running the latest and greatest version of wordpress. Oh, and I was able to contact Google and get my site unbanned. Boy was that nice of them.

Yahoo’s developer area is becoming the top resource for web designers and developers. Maye it’s because they’ve adopted a policy of hiring exceptional people who have a clear and concise idea of how design and the web should work.

They have a lot of new options on the page, a lot less explanation, and seem to follow what we would assume are best practices.
