Google opens Project Code
Google has released an alternative to sourceforge.net. Its due to compete for the open-source project hosting market. After going through the site a bit, I found that the design lacked. Also, the ability to find projects with any signifcant meaning was more of a scrolling campaign, then finding projects that actually were easy to find.
Some features I’ve noticed that are needed are:
Top Downloads, Recent Projects, Most Active Projects
On top of those, I usually don’t search for new projects based off of C++, Java, Windows … I usually will look for what kind of catagory they would fall under such as; Business, CRM, Communication, VOIP.
I’m sure there is going to be a lot of stability and an ever growing community of projects.
